Nice slide. G.
Indeed Graham, it was a very nice slide. We both commented on the pleasant county pub ambience inside but also remarked on the fact that it was noticeably quiet, even for a Monday. However, I think this had something to do with the very drunk and possibly quite strange bloke playing pool and scaring the clientele (well, me anyway). I think I should point out I had to get the second round which mysteriously cost 70p more and Graham hasn't offered to help me out with the extra expense yet! Tight or what! Whilst I'm on the subject I think it is only fair to point out to anyone who is reading this (hi Graham) that whilst I put a mammoth 20p in the RNLI lifeboat on the bar Graham only managed 2p. Wow, the generosity! Thatíll go a long way towards a sea rescue operation. Anyway, back to the pub. All in all, a pleasant experience and recommendable for an evening sup in the garden (especially if you like slides). S.
What with this being the first pub in our mission I feel I should add some more. The Gardeners is a proper pub, and no doubt about it, in a very pleasant leafy area not far out of town. Confusing signs pointing opposite directions for the bogs in the garden though. G.

Standard range of your usual lagers, and Greene King Abbot and IPA on tap. Abbot was off though. £10.20 for the first round and £10.90 for the second. Strange. The ladies were present drinking their huge bowls of fermented grape juice. G.
I might be wrong here but we only saw IPA and Abbott on tap which was a bit poor really for this type of pub. Not sure if they do local beers or such like occasionally but a better selection would be nice. Mind you, if Abbott was on I would have been quite happy for an evening. S.
IPA might not have been the most exciting beer in the world, but it was presented well enough. Slurp slurp. G.

VISITOR FEEDBACK [Give Your Feedback]

"This pub has recently been taken over. The food is excellent and good value. I recommend the Sunday roast with the rosemary yorkshire pudding. It was very quiet to begin with , but on Sundays the numbers of clientelle have been gradually growing. They also have a quiz night, and fish and chip Fridays but I haven't been to these."

"This is a dreadful pub now and looks like it is a business being run down for redevelopment. What a shame."

"I'll give it a five because my father spent most of his life in there and it made him slightly happy. I found on the last occ I was there, it was going downhill (no offence to current managers/tenants). The food was all frozen and the only comment I can make on a good note is that the mates I knew in there were jolly nice people! Staff passing thru like ministers in a new Northern Ireland Labour cabinet so you couldnt really get to know them and the garden was dirty. In the good old days, when Grace was the landlady, it was superb - BUT we are talking about 35 years ago. I also have to mention Gordon the ex-landlord (because he is my brothers father-in-law....nice sort. All in all, a great space wasted pub-wise with a wonderful location and all the opportunities you could wish for but it just has not happened for some obscure reason."
